White Socks and a Walking Stick
Kathryn Nedd (nee Hughes) was born and grew up in Rhyl surrounded by the fairground.
The Marine Lake was in front of her home and Ocean Beach at the back.
She now lives in Cobham, Surrey with her husband Malcolm.
She took early retirement in 2006 having worked for Unilever for 27 years in Information Technology and Human Resources.
She then had the time to start researching her family history.
This book was intended to document her grandfather’s achievements for the immediate family.
In doing so she learnt a great deal about the Butlers of Stanningley, the contribution Lieutenant Lot Morgan UN made the design and construction of amusement parks, became an expert on concrete ships and much more.
She hopes that anyone who has an interest in history, be in Rhyl, Stanningley or fairground rides, will find something new in the information she has gathered and not least that they get a sense of the man her grandfather was and the part he had in Rhyl’s success in its heyday.
